The DiscoSAT Network

The DiscoSAT network is a collection of sensors placed across Europe, designed to monitor satellite communications. The map below shows the approximate locations of these sensors.
The network is operated by the reasearch team of the Distributed Computer Systems (DISCO) group at the university of Kaiserslautern (RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau). Our research comprises performance and security aspects of distributed systems. One of our primary focuses is the physical layer security of wireless systems.

In one of our recent works we used the DiscoSAT system to investigate the RECORD (RECeption-Only Region Determination) Attack on LEO satellite systems. This attack makes it possible to locate users by analyzing satellite communications.
The paper initially presenting this attack can be found here.
